I was hoping iiipope or someone could chime in here. I want to swap the high gains on my Ric 360-12 for new toasters I just got from Ric. Several have said while I'm doing it I ought to add in a .0047 capacitor and a push pull pot. I would like to do this, but need some guidance. I have searched past forums for a diagram, but have only found a few general descriptions - I'm not an electrical wizard so I need more detail. Anyone have a link to a diagram or specific instructions on how to do this?

Thanks. It's an honor to have a thread named for my mod. I didn't make a sketch of it. After tinkering on guitars for (mumble) decades, I just kind of did it. If you have an email, I'll draw it out, convert it to pdf, and email it to you, and anybody/everybody else who wants it, in both 2-pickup and 3-pickup versions.

iiipopes:

Your name came up most often on all my searches on this subject - so naturally I named the thread after you. It would be great if you could draw out a diagram along with any instructions/hints you might have on making this mod when I switch out the pickups and email it to me. I have a 360-12 (2 pick ups). My email is hamfam721@earthlink.net.

And so when I order it - what is the name or part number of the knob/pot I will need ?

Thanks in advance!

Scott

iiipopes, count me in as well, and if you could, please, the whole 330 in simple parts diagram and not the schematic like on the site. I rewired the guitar when I first got it and somehow the available p/pull cap mod diagram doesn't work with it. I also used a non RIC p/pull pot and that may have something to do with it.
Thank you.

I'm _really_ new at this. And so have several even more basic questions. What's a .0047 capacitor? What does it do?
What sort of measurement is .0047?
What will the push pull pot controll?
What will be accomplished with these modifications?

The .0047 microfarad capacitor was used in vintage Rickenbackers to shape their unique tone. It filters out some of the bass response from the bridge pickup, giving it a brighter sound. The push-pull tone control (as found on new issue 4003 basses) allows you to switch this cap in and out of the circuit, giving you both tone curves.
