Rare enough that you see girls playing bass, even more rare to see the female of the species with a 4003 - especially one rocking out this much!

Gail Greenwood of Belly, later of L7, if memory serves.
Terrible rendition of a great song, though...

About 20 years ago I was in a local music store and a girl who played bass in a local band came in to shop. I don't know what turned her inside out, but on the wall was a then-brand-new 4003FG. She took it down, plugged it in, and it looked great, sounded great, fit her hands great, budget was not an issue, and was one of the few times an instrument really matched and fit the person in all aspects that I have had the pleasure of seeing. A friend of mine who worked there who was on the floor that day agreed. But for some reason she walked out with a cheap import that sounded horrible, did not fit her ergonomics, and the rest of her bandmates weren't too keen on. None of us could figure it out.

Ah, memories! I love that Gretsch...oops...Am I allowed to say that on here? :)

Here's another one - Juliana Hatfield, played bass on the Lemonheads best album, 'It's A Shame About Ray', also made a very good album of her own straight after.

Rare clip of her playing a 4003. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-VRzxlR ... re=related

I've also seen her playing a 4003 with a natural finish too.

She plays a black P-Bass, and it does sound great, but I really think her sound and style would suit a Rick! Oh well, you can't always have everything you want at the same time.

Carol Kaye.

Obviously couldn't find any live performance vids except interviews. This one's pretty cool:
