I'm just home from Melbourne from U2s 360 degree tour show last night. Boy! what a show. I'm still pumped. The Edge used a 330/12 for Mysterious ways. Not The original 60's era RIC that was used in the studio, I did read somewhere that that Guitar is no longer with us due to Edges studio being flooded and The RIC destroyed. Is this correct? Under all the shimmering lights of the spectacular stage it appeared to be a Mapleglo finish 330/12 awesome sound. Great Band, awesome show. Any one from the forums been to the 360 degree show?

Be great to read your thoughts on it. Any Australians here with tickets to the remaining Aus shows? If so you are in for a treat.

Daryl

I can't tell you anything more about what happened to 'the RIC'

However, what I can say is that U2 simply do not 'float my boat' - and never have done. This may seem a strange sentiment coming from someone who lives in Ireland, but I am simply not impressed by music which largely consists of simple guitar riffs, repeated endlessly and heavily reliant upon technology and special effects to cover up lack of true musicianship. Time will be the judge of how relevant the group was, but I have a feeling that no-one will be humming U2 melodies in 20 or 30 years time.

As for Bono, that pretentious, sanctimonious do-gooder (who is clearly more interested in his own media profile than the causes he allegedly supports), I wouldn't cross the street to acknowledge him - in fact, I would cross over the street to avoid him! He was on television a few nights ago, talking about how John Lennon had influenced him, as if he was somehow an equal. In my books, he would not even be fit to string JL's Rickenbacker!

Do not let my jaundiced personal views take away from what was clearly a great concert for you. Thank God that we live in a democracy, where we are all entitled to our own opinions.

Yes! And you could certainly not take away what I enjoyed on Friday December 3 at Etihad Stadium. And judgeing from the response of the 60,000 people at the event I don't think I was the only one who enjoyed Themselves.
U2 are a great act, always have been. Ive loved U2 since Gloria.

As for their musical ability, well Ive never ever done anything in my life time that could come anywhere near what they have achieved and I have the utmost respect for them.

People seem to love to kick BONO in the head for some damn reason. Ive seen a hell of a lot more egotistical people in this world than Bono. I admire the man, I get him, and I get the Edge, Adam and Larry. And I think a lot of people are very jealous of them.

As far as I'm concerned they are the last true link to real music. Yes The Beatles are my all time love and greatest influence when it comes to music. But I love U2.

You had Your opinion, now that is mine. Take care and we will agree to disagree.

Woah Daryl - take it easy, I hear what you say and I respect your views.

Maybe some day, I will get it too, but not so far.

Australia gave Europe Rolf Harris, we have given you U2 - so maybe we are even and should declare a truce.

I recall a story about the flood of the Hanover Quay storage area in 2002 reporting damage to U2's gear at the facility. Glad to hear a Rick 330/12 is on the "360" Tour.

What a pity Bono was not in the studio when the building flooded!
