This year's Southern California Annual Rickenbacker Fest (SCARF) on Saturday August 6th, will take place at:

The Starting Gate.
5052 Katella Blvd.
Los Alamitos, CA
(562) 598-8957

This will be the seventh annual SCARF. There will be a room for displaying our Ricks, a stage for jamming. There might be an actual Rickenbacker playing band or two to perform as well. Bring you Ricks to display and don't be shy to jam. The jams are not talent contest! For every Rick you bring, please bring a guitar stand to display it on. There is food and drink at the venue. Get there early and you can have a very big breakfast for just $4. The food there is pretty good.

I will emphasize that this is NOT a RIC company hosted event. This event will be hosted by some of the local So Cal forumites. So please do not call or email RIC for info about this event. Let them concentrate on building our favorite instruments.
Any questions can be posted in this thread or you can contact me directly. You can also contact; Paulie (Bluerick), Rich (8mileshigher), Dan (Danotron), Scott (S4001), or Gary (doctorwho - on the RRF).

Though this year is the 80th anniversary of Rickenbacker, this is NOT an official RIC company celebration. Though we will take the opportunity to unofficially celebrate and honor RIC for making their wonderful instruments for the past 80 years at this event.

More details to follow.

Just a little more info for now.
The event will go from about 10 AM, when we can start setting up. Though you can get there as early as 8 AM for breakfast. I think they serve the $4 breakfast until noon. We will have to start breaking down our gear from the stage at 6 PM, maybe later if the manager decides we'll make him more money than the scheduled 6PM karaoke. If the karaoke goes on, maybe we can just have some fun with that and make it part of SCARF '11.
We will have the display room until 9 PM.
We will use security precautions for the guitars as we've done in the past.

For Rickenbacker enthusiasts coming from out of the area, and looking for lodging in The Starting Gate vicinity, the following were the recommendations from last year's SCARF:

Don's Turf Motel ----- for more budget minded Confluence attendees

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review ... ornia.html

Mariott Residence Inn --- for those Confluence attendees who are combining their visit with a business trip or using "Miles" they've earned; Marriott is kitty-corner across the street on Katella Ave. from The Starting Gate.

The Southern California Annual Ric Fest (SCARF Confluence) is just a few weeks away. :D Mark your calendars for Saturday August 6th

The event will open at 10:00 AM. The stage for jamming will close at 6PM and the Display Room will close down at 9:00 PM. The event will be at The Starting Gate on Katella Avenue, in Los Alamitos, across the street from the racetrack. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and refreshments are available at The Starting Gate.

A potential Jam sign up sheet has been posted on Google.
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreads ... n_gO#gid=0

Would point out that the jamming is pretty unstructured and free-form and "what ever happens" --- nothing is cast in concrete. It is for musicians of all levels of skill/talent. The purpose of the song list is to kind of give folks a broad idea, if there are particular songs one would like to play. And one can familiarize yourself with the chord changes ahead of time or download a song sheet. The idea is that its better than 6 or 7 jammers meeting up for the first time and asking "do you know this one?" or how does the Bridge go ?

Anyone interested in the latest SCARF rumblings or announcements can always check out the thread over on the Ric Resource Forum:

http://www.rickresource.com/forum/viewt ... &start=225

Luthiers Paul Wilczynski and Larry Davis will be in attendance.

The guys from The Byrds Collective http://www.thebyrdscollective.com/ and a couple of other Rickenbacker influenced bands will be there. Meet and greet Forum members and fellow Rickenbacker enthusiasts and see some nice Rics 8-)

Hope to see you at SCARF ! :D And remember to bring enough guitar stands for all the instruments you bring to display and play !!

A reminder to everyone showing up with guitars to display. As part of the security measures implemented for the guitars, be ready to have them checked in when you arrive! Owner, year, model and serial number will be recorded, just like we did last year.
