Finally,
I got around to watch the so excellent "Concert for George" which I rented from Netflx.
I can't say enough good things about it except: -The guitar and bass players had a nasty extreme love affair going on with all things Fender.
Even when Petty Thomas showed up and flew no Ric liberator, my teeth flew out of my mouth to see him toting Fender, no Ric 12 banger ever to be seen or heard by him and to grind mud into the wound, even anything at all from the Ric 600 series -Rics 6 string or otherwise! Zip, nada!!!
The real brutal slap in the face came when the all-star band did their rendition of "IF I Needed Someone" and NO Ric 12 banger was used!!!! Heresy of heresies. ...
What the hell gives here?!? I was so mad that my Cape Codder evening cocktail was almost thrown by me at my "Sony no baloney"!

The only Ric in attendance that particular night was George's 12 string. Unfortunately it was on a guitar stand!!

Davcir, I agree with you 100% about 'If I needed someone". There was a law broken there somewhere. That was just not right. Mark

Isn't it a pity ? Well guys, for me it was only logical : George's 12 string *was* there on stage and it was *him* to introduce it to the world of rock'n'roll so I understand it out of some kind of respect to him that no Rick was played by anybody else on this special event ... that would have been the real heresy ! To expose his magic guitar on a stand with nobody else playing a Rick was the upmost honour and respect given to him and this brand ! ...and even without Ricks this DVD is still one of my favourites !...because of the music :-)
@davclr : how does it feel with your own brand new rick banger ? it seems that you check out every DVD with possible Rick appearances..:-) right so !

Xpitt you have no idea!
Me now owning 3 Rics after waiting 42 years to buy my first Ric is my dream come true.
Everytime, I watch the DVD of the 2nd Sullivan Show and Lennon comes out sporting his then brand new Alameda Street, Los Angeles factory fresh 325 Miami, my own 325 Miami descendant sits on a wooden Taylor guitar stand next to the Sony TV screen.
-Still gives me goosebumps! -Like looking at the Rosetta Stone! P.S. ("Ric fever" is uncurable!)

Quote: ("Ric fever" is uncurable!) I know, I know ! These days I have to look after the house of my mom in law from time to time, she passed away last christ's day. The place is about 600 km from Munich. Everytime I go there I take two of my Ricks and my small Blues Junior with me and place the guitars in a special room. Everytime I enter this room they would smile at me and I take one after another and play them. Besides all the things I am busy with I quite often go into this special room :-)...every five minutes... BTW - there is a C63 12string on ebay offered by Nationwide Guitars

xpitt, My sincere condolescenes of the recent passing you mom-in- law on Xmas day.
-So you and I one huge thing in common (in addition to us having "Ric fever)
My mom mother also just passed away this past 2008 Xmas Day and I'm not having an easy time with the grief process.
My mom was thrilled every time my Rics came out of the cases. I let her hold them and she always told me, "They are SO beautiful!)
