Anyone know the current whereabouts of this guitar? Just curious.

Kenny, I don't know if you've seen this or not . . .

There's an article in The Virginian Pilot (where Saks was an area local) dated December 7,1998 . . . "What ever happened to the guitar owned by Tony Saks that was autographed by all four Beatles?"

If you want to read the COMPLETE article, you need to subscribe to a news archive service . . .

Kenny, I'm thinking it may be in Japan, I'm not exactly sure. Saks put the guitar up for auction a while back and it brought big bucks understandibly.....it was part of the original Savoy Hotel display for The Beatles when F.C. met with them in NYC. It would be cool to know how close that guitar is sn#-wise to George's 1st 12-string....

Actually, it wasn't. It was slated to go but was never shipped. My dad was never happy about the misrepresentation.

But it was signed by the Beatles.

Saks was "unique". My dad used to be listed in the Newport Beach phone book but when Saks started calling him late at night, he had the number changed and unlisted.

I think it's as simple as him having Derek Taylor have it signed by The Beatles.

Here's a related thread with a pic:

I guess I'd just like to see some better photos of it. Not a biggie, was just curious.

Interesting, John. I can imagine what caller ID would have done for your Dad in those days, LOL....

I'm wondering if Saks bought that guitar 'off the rack' or by other means....

OK . . . I'm NOT trying to drag this out . . . BUT ? ? ?

Saks had the signed guitar . . . Correct ? ? ?

So . . . WHY was he calling Mr. Hall at night ? ? ?

This has me hooked . . .

Worse than channel flanging between Oprah and Days of Our Lives . . . without missin' somethin' . . .

Tony came to Columbus, Ohio in March 1987, along with Pete Best, Sid Bernstein, and various sundry others. He brought the aforementioned guitar with him and took a photo of me holding and playing it. Somewhere in my archives...........

I remember seeing this guitar in the late 70's at some record convention or Beatlefest or another. He was charging a fee to hold it and have a polaroid taken with it -- I paid and somewhere in the bottom of one of my drawers is a pic of me and the guitar. I'll have to look it up . . . I'd love to hear any more anecdotes about this thing -- I thought it was the coolest thing ever at the time (I was young!).
