I would just like to see one because it would be something else to choose from and might let them tinker with the design a bit. I know there are murmurs from time to time that the 4003 is sacrosanct because of tradition being a driving part of the customer base. I know, I know... the 4004. It just doesn't do it for me, sadly. I wish it did! A little too modern/coffee table for my tastes. I'm thinking more of a subtle evolution, not a radical departure.

Unfortunately, they have been there and done that in the early '90's for real. It was called the Squier II series. And before that in the early '80's with the Lead series. And also in the early '80's, the ultimate cheap version, with an integrated steel stamped bridge/pickguard/control plate: the Bullet.
