This was posted on the steel guitar forum and I thought Ric fans would enjoy reading this. I got permission from the original poster to repost it here.

I went to a Pawn shop to look for an accoustic guitar and while I was trying out an old Gibson Dove I spotted a Rick 4001 Black and white Bass Guitar..I told the guy I had loaned one to a guy up North and never seen him or the axe again..I asked to see it and after looking it over I found my etched name on the top between the keys..Faded a little but never the less ledgable..He told me he has had it over a year and had swaped it for a Camera.I bought the Gibson and and gave him half of what he wanted for the Bass..A good deal and got an old friend back..I had learned last year that the person I loaned the bass to had died..I gave up on seeing that bass ever again..Its been beat up a little but still plays well and will be nice in my little studio..PS I got it back for 175.00..Case and all and a decent strap and new set of strings that were in the case..

I am always facinated by stories of serendipitous good fortune. I agree that in the end it worked out well for you, even though you had to buy back your bass -- no foul play, really, and the borrower of your bass had the greater misfortune.... All's well that ends well! Thanks for posting.

That's a very cool story thanks for sharing it. Your tale comes with mixed blessing, the person you lent the Ric to at least got to play one before he passed away. You lent him the guitar but now it's back in your hands. Have you ever hear of a boomerang???

Congratulations on finding your old bass! That's fantastic!

Congrats! May I ask a favor: please send some of your mojo my way so I can recover my dad's King Super 20 trumpet stolen from me in college? Thanks.
