I was doing an online search for an Ampeg micro bass amp and stumbled upon this pic of a guy and his Ric bass. A 4000 body for sure but the pickguard looks similar in shape to a 3001 and it has a P-bass pickup.
It's a very modified 4000. You can see in this video, that even the back of the neck has been modified with position markers.
Begs the question "Why?"

I can't say why for the bassist in the video. For myself, I think it's a cool idea, because as I get older, it's getting harder for me to see little dot markers on the side of the fingerboard on stage when the lights are either dim or very bright. Just a guess, but I'd say that for the speed that bassist plays, he wants accuracy with very distinct markings.

The back of the neck position markers would look cooler on a jetglo bass.
