Geddy has brought out a whole stable of RIC's, including two 4080's, assorted 4001/3's and a Fireglo 4005(!) during the current RUSH tour. Alex also uses a Fireglo 360 a few times as well!

Sounds like Rush is back into serious Rick mode.Maybe another live album in the works.

I really like the burst of the 4080 Geddy Lee is currently using. Does anybody know if it is the same 4080 he had in the 70s in Jetglo back then ?

I saw the boys last night, it was a total thrill to hear Ged's Rics in the context of those classic early Rush tunes. Alex didn't break out the 360, unfortunately, unless I missed it somehow. But Ged's basses were not what I was expecting. I was not close enough to really see, but the 4005 looked like it had an F-hole. Is that possible? Either that, or my eyes deceived me. He had what looked like a 4001 or 4003 in Ruby or Plumglo, not his old Jetglo 4001. The 4080 was simply awesome. Amazing show. With Rics!

The 4005 is as has been noted an import model - the Rose Morris 3261.

Geddy's bass technician has been buying instruments from a few collectors over at the RRF. So all of these instruments have threads there from when their previous owners bought and restored them.

The 4001 is from October 1968 in Burgundy.

The 4080 (which is pictured in Paul Boyer's book on Rickenbacker basses) is Fireglo with custom gold pick guard and TRC.

The shows in Toronto last month were filmed for a concert DVD. So it will be great to see them in action.

When I saw them in Montreal, it this was the first time I heard a 4005 live. It does have that double bass feeling I was reading about here.

Well I am gobsmacked! (It's an English term for amazed BTW).

Geddy just took us on a video tour of the basses he is using on this current tour - including all the RICS. He explains them well. The FG 4080 is from 1980. The JG 4080 is from 1975 - and is not his original one which is in the Museum of Civilization outside of Ottawa.

Awesome video, thanks for sharing Ontario_RIC_fan! I'm also looking forward to the official tour video. I had tickets for the Friday night show in Toronto but unfortunately couldn't make it in the end. As you say, it will be fantastic to see and hear all these Ric basses getting a workout.
