I know there have been a lot of RIC's played on live performances, films and recordings from the 30's, 40's 50's and 60's . . . Anyone know of any performers, bands or orchestras not yet mentioned ? ? ?

Howdy,

I remember 20 years ago (God, I'm getting Old!) watching some TV programme following the "Live Aide" concert. There was a segment where one of the members of America lip-synced "Sister Golden Hair" with a Rickenbacker 360-12 (WB, Fire-Glo). He was the guy with the blondish hair and glasses.
I was too busy paying attention to the best looking guitar I'd seen on TV all DAY! I didn't feel too bad about missing my studies for an exam on Louisiana History at LSU that Monday! Fun weekend.

Wally Bryson from Raspberries has played a 360/12 Ric since 1969. Fabulous sound he gets. www.raspberries.net

The Turtles. No one has mentioned the damn Turtles. Worthy of its own thread, I think...

Howdy,

The late Brian Jones has shown up in some somewhat obscure photos from the 60's playing FG 360's. That color pic of him inside the album "High Tides and Green Grass" is a pretty high-profile "Rock Star with a Rick" pic, isn't it?
This album sold me on the 'Stones with hits like "Get Off My Cloud", "The Last Time" (Brian doin the lead, BTW) and of course "I Can't Get No". I think Brian's 12-string Rickenbacker can be heard (out of tune, unfortunately!) on "The Singer not the Song". Good song, out of tune and painfully so I'm afraid.

The guitarist from the group America mentioned in an earlier post is Gerry Beckley. Now, here's one from England. Paul Atkinson of the Zombies played a Rickenbacker 1997. From A to Z, it's Rickenbacker.

Robin Zanders of Cheap Trick has one of the best Rick collections and plays them quite often. Mike Campbell and Tom Petty also play their vintage Ricks all the time. If you go back to the 1930's, the pioneer of the Rickenbacher Bak-O-Lite fretted round neck guitar was "Doc" Kaufmann. Doc played with various big bands back then and up into the 50's using his patented Vibrola Rick.
