The topic that never dies ![]() Please confirm or correct : the 660-12 /Petty model have the 1.75 (=1 12/16th) width and the 300 series 12s have the 1 5/8 = 1 10/16th width(?) Now I am seeing 450-12s advertised as 1 11/16th width and am wondering if this really was a 3rd, intermediate width -or else someone just measuring sloppy and fast... thing is, 1/16th make not seem like anything but can make a real difference in feel and playability... at least for me. I had a 660 12 new, loved the width but stock frets are too low for me. Not going to refret a pristine guitar. But I thought if I could find a 450 12 that has been around the block, then taller frets going in are no prob., at least w/ me. But if 450-12s really are the same width-at-nut as 300 series 12s in neck width, then it's not worth pursuing. Rick 12 experts, please weigh in on this timeless topic. |

My guess is it's either a sloppy measurement, or a slight variance. |
