Hi all,

Been lurking for a while now and would like some help. I have a 650 Frisco that is my only Rick right now and is the pride and joy of my little guitar collection. I have been using it mostly for lead work and find that the neck pickup is awesome with my rig. ( My setup consists of Native Instruments Guitar Rig on a laptop fed to a very clean little solid state amp or directly to my recording desk)

Recently I hooked up with a new group of folks and we have been experimenting with more of an REM/Tom Petty kind of sound. Thanks to this forum I have been able to adjust my rig to get a decent jangle sound out of the bridge pickup, but I want more.

Right now another guitar is pretty much out of the question for me, but I am willing to put out the money for one of the horseshoe pickups sold here. However, I really want to keep the gold trim look on the guitar.

My question, does the trim ring snap off of the horseshoe pickup so I could have it plated to match the rest of my hardware?

Thanks for any feedback,
Harry

The horseshoe pickup is for bass and simply wouldn't fit this instrument properly.

Thanks John, I meant the Toaster. But your comment brings up another question, is the Toaster the same physical size as the HB on my 650?

Regards, Harry

I think all of the available pickups are the same size.

Question for the folks at Rickenbacker. If I buy a new toaster pickup from the boutique, is it possible to get one with the cover not plated? My local automotive plater does gold but says it will be somewhat less expensive to start with a non-plated part then to have to strip and re-polish a chrome one.

Thanks, Harry

A lot of players take the toaster cover off and put them on high gains...
