I always understood the Tom Petty Limited 660/12 was made with a thicker and wider neck than other 660s. Is this the case ?

I do believe it is the same as the standard 660/12 model. It is a wider neck width than the standard 330/12 and 360/12 that Rickenbacker puts on these models. It is also (TP 660/12) the same as the Ric - 1993Plus model.

Yes the 660/12 TP, 660 & 660/12 all are manufactured with the same neck width. The 620 & 620/12 are still made with the standard neck size.

Well I bought a Tom Petty Limited 660/12 FG in 1991 when they came out and sold it in 2016 and I have just bought a 660/6 MG and although I would agree with you about the width of the neck at the nut being the same I am sure the former was thicker front to back. Maybe Mr Hall can advise us. By the way I am in the UK.
