Someone drilled a whole in my 1970s rickenbacker neck and inserted a jewel. Why and who?

Do you know who the owner was before you owned it?
I'd start with asking them....
People do weird stuff eh?

Someone drilled a hole (not whole) in the neck of my Rickenbacker over50years ago. It was my husbands who recently passed away and I do not know who the original owner was. He may have got it from a pawnshop in Seattle.

Where is this jewel? On the fretboard? On the edge of the fretboard? On the headstock?
I saw a guitar many years back where the owner drilled out all of the side-marker dots and replaced them with cubic zirconiums which he left sticking out just a hair higher than flush so they would be able to catch some light around the edges.
The intent was to make the dots easier to see on a dimly lit stage. I seem to recall the guy said they worked not too bad for that. Never saw that again.

Why don't you post a photo of it here. If it looks good, you might just start a trend. If it looks bad, you would need an expert, like Paul Wilczynski, to fix it.
