Has anyone on the forum moded their Ric guitar with a Ric humbucker in the neck position while keeping the single coil toaster in the bridge?

I thought it might be like placing a P-90 or humbucker in the neck position on a Tele.

I was thinking about doing this to a 660.

I have recently done the opposite with my 620. I replaced the high-gain pickups with a vintage pickup in the neck position and a humbucker in the bridge postition. I am not quite satisfied with that. The toaster pickup and the humbucker sound great individually, but the combination of the two is not very convincing. I am currently thinking about exchanging the pickups for the original high-gains again. The only problem is: I cannot tell which one of the two high-gain-pickups is the neck and which is the bridge pickup anymore :-(.

The difference between the neck & bridge hi-gain pickup is in the spacing of the pole pieces. If you put the two together, it will be easy to tell which is which. The bridge pickup has the wider spacing....

That's something I've thought about. Yes, it should be like a humbucker or P90 in the neck of a Tele. You're not going to get the usual in-between sound because the humbucker vastly overpowers the toaster... just like the Hum or P90 vastly overpowers the Tele bridge pickup. The blend knob may help to solve the problem though, just set it bridge-heavy to cut the neck volume in the middle position.

...but then again, my American Fat Tele is my favorite sounding guitar after the Rics and Starcaster! ;-)
