I'm not sure who it was, but someone with a RIC avatar mentioned that this website does not censor us from talking about Gibsons, and Fenders, and all that. So let's do just that! Talk about your non-Rick guitars. what makes you like them? What edge does it have over your Rick? in what department does your Rick own it? I guess I can start....

I have a Gibson SG special faded cherry. I changed the pickups out for Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz pickups, with chrome covers. I use it to play anything from AC/DC-Zeppelin style Rock, to Beatles (alot), and occasionally jazz. That Jazz Neck pickup has got to give off one of the sweetest sounds I've ever heard. once my soundclick page goes through, I'll post a link to me playing White Summer with the Neck pickup. sounds SWEET to my ears!

my two ricks are a 360/12 mg and a 660/12 fg, love em both.

the rest consists of my "first guitars" my 1958 supro westood archtop was the first guitar i picked up and plucked strings on, my first "serious playing" guitar was a 95 squire strat bullet series (which isnt that bad considering its a beginer guitar) which i used to take lessons on. i then started playin my dads alvarez acoustic which im impressed with. then i sort of lost interest in playin for a while, then picked it up again in high school. for my 16th birthday i got the 360/12. my sisters boyfriend wanted to lear so bought one of thoe $250 epiphone beginers packages. he lost interest and gave me the guitar, "les paul special" which there is nothing special about. in fact it really sucks. not gunna lie. and most recently my 660/12.

ive played gibsons and fenders in guitar shops and havent really found one i "just gotta have". i did like the faded double cut les paul with p90s, and was impressed with the korean casino. id really prefer the american casino but its out of budget as of now. and if im gunna spend 700 for the casino with bigsby, i might as well spend a little more and get the 650S (not a fair comparison though). my room mate had a les paul studio and man was it heavy. didnt sound bad and played nice, but not my cup of tea. he also has a j160e which is quite nice.

My other guitars consist of a '61 Les Paul SG, a '64 Hofner 500-1 bass, and an '84 Yamaha FG312 acoustic.

Hmm...

I have the following RICs: 360 VP FG, 360-12 BBR, 730L-12 FG, 4003 JG.

My other gaggle include: Fender Strat, Imitation Les Paul, Takemine 330-12, Silvertone acoustic, Schafer bass, Fender Jazz Fretless bass, Fender P-bass, Tacoma mandolin, Taylor 414-C, Oscar Schmidt electric autoharp, two violins (one a handmade German, and the other a factory Japanese) and other stuff.

My others include 5 Gretschs ('65 6120, 6122-62 (Gent reissue), 6119-62 (Tenny reissue), Duo Jet 6128TSP (G.H. '57 model), and White Falcon.

From Fender: MIM Strat and Tele of recent issue and a nylon "classical" guitar.

From Epi: Les Paul Custom, Dot, EJ-160E, and a Korean Casino.

I have one Gibson L.P., which I bought used in the 80s, and not sure of the vintage.

An Ovation Legend from the 80s.

I have two Rogue basses, one is the Hofner knock-off.

A short-scale Airline bass from Montgomery Wards from the mid-60s.

And my poor lonely 2 little Ricks, the 1980 360-12 FG and my 325C58 JG from 2004. And awaiting the arrival (someday) of a 360/12C63.

Honestly, one of my favorites to play right now is the Korean Casino. It's light and stays in tune, versatile and just seems to jump into my hands.

For years, I have been a Gretsch bigot, but when I get one of the Gretschs off the wall, I almost feel like I should be saying High Mass and burning incense.

And after spending all this time on this and the Rickresource forums, blinders have been lifted and now I want, nay, NEED more Ricks! Currently working on my lovely and charming wife in pursuit of a Desert Gold 360. She is a formidable opponent.
