How about a 1996? Check out Pick of The Ricks' website - new ones just arrived.

Yes, the 1996 is a short scale guitar.

I love my 1997. I replaced the Ac'cent vibrato with a Bigsby B5. Just a personal decision. I think the Bigsby returns to pitch better and is quieter than the Ac'cent--at least in my opinion.
If you can't find a 1997 or 1997SPC reissue, why don't you consider a 330 with Toaster pickups and an Ac'cent? It would get very close to the sound of a 1997, especially if you use iiiopes' tone mod. The only downside would be no f-hole. I personally like the Rick f-hole guitars the best: the 1993/12, the 1996, the 1997, and the 1998. I sure wish they'd reissue them!

-Don't look for any additional Ric "re-issues" anytime soon nor for that matter any new "new" Ric models.
John Hall has said and posted many times, the current main objective is working against an enormous order backlog and getting goods out the door.

At this time, you'll have to be on the lookout for a pre-owned 1997. Rickenbacker announced the 1997 reissue in 1987 and the guitars were manufactured through 1999, so they are out there. Good luck!

Yes, they're out there, but I'll bet it would be impossible to get production figures for the reissue 1997 or the 1997SPC (a reissue of the 1998). At least you would know just how many are out there to be had.

I too want a 1997 Rose Morris reissue. I'll tell you, if I can get a hold of one, so can you. Best of luck on your hunt!
