Hi Rickenlovers! Can anyone tell me how hot the Ricky humbuckers are on the 4004? 15K? And how warm and fat do they sound? Like a Gibson bass warmth?
I'm talkin bout the neck pu. And my 2nd question is how hot are the modern 4001 treble hi gains ? 12K?

Passive humbucking pickups are not really any "hotter" than any other passive pickups, despite the hype other pickup manufacturers would have you believe, because of all the variables of coil geometry, wire kind, diameter, magnet structure, polepiece structure, etc. Yes, some designs are more efficient than others, which does cause them to have a few more millivolts output, but it's not just because of how much wire is on them.

That said, the 4004 uses standard HB-1 pickups, of which current production is enough turns of 44 gauge wire that they measure about 15kohms dc resistance. They have a mid peak at @ 1 to 1.5 kohms like some other overwound pickups, which gives them a good drive, but at the expense of a slight treble rolloff. Bass response is good.
