I was drooling over one of these at Olivias and noticed it only has a single output jack. Are these strictly Ric-O-Sound stereo output?

they are strictly and totally MONO, just like any 4001S, 4003S, 4001V63, 4001C64 and 4001C64S

Really?

With Chris's extensive use of a stereo rig that doesn't make any sense

Well, my 4004 has Ric-O-Sound output, didn't come that way though.

I suspect Chris modified his for stereo somewhere along the line. Now, why RIC didn't do that for the 4001CS, I have no idea, but it's easy enough to do if you want it...

I know the S and other series don't have ric o sound but I "thought" Chris had his converted way back. Maybe even when it got it's familiar paint job and sanding. Is this correct?

If so was this just left out of the signature edition? or did he never actually use ric o sound as opposed to just splitting the signal?

His bass was a 4001S originally, hence, mono. I guess if he'd wanted this to be ROS it would have been, because it was his sig model. Apparently he didn't think it needed ROS. Besides, I don't think his bass ever really had ROS even once modded, it was a different configuration.

Chris's bass was one of the first four RM1999's exported to England and was originally mono. Chris converted it to stereo, the generic term for Ric-O-Sound, after he'd had it for awhile. According to John Hall, the 4001CS's weren't supposed to be exact copies of Chris's bass, but modern interpretations of it. Most people don't have stereo bass rigs, so the basses didn't come with stereo jacks, but this costs about $10.00 to fix.

Cool, you learn something new everyday. IF I had one I would probably get the mod, there are so many great sounds you can get using a ric o sound set up.
