I'm thinking this is a v63, not a 1963 Ric. Note the dual truss rods. For some reason, I can't see the other pictures.

Nope, it's a 1963. Checker binding, full width inlays, and a CM serial number...

A part of me really wants to bid on this and just buy parts and refinish it as I have the money to do so.

But, as the seller says, I'm sure the costs would add up to a very tidy sum. This thing also has almost 5 days left and it's already up to about $400, so it's bound to be really pricey by the time the auction ends.

It would certainly be a fun project for somebody, though!

Without the sanding at the waist and the rather liberal amount of routing this would be a vary valuable carcass.... As it is I'm not so sure....

Ah, I wish I had the money to spare for this. I'm always tempted to bid on these and then just send them over to Paul so he can restore them to their former glory. Alas, lack of funds.

1963 Rics were made with dual truss rods?

Rickenbacker introduced double truss rods in the late 1950's.

Thanks, my bad. I thought that 60's Rics had single truss rods, hence the bowing problem.

Some Rickenbacker guitar models have been manufactured with a single truss rod but a genuine '63 Rick Bass should have two.
