Yea, don't mean to keep posting, but the more I play, the more I'm really thinking it's not the strings...and I can't find out until tomorrow (Melodee's closed on Sundays)...it just sounds like there's no tone to the E string at all. So my question is...if it turns out to be a broken pole piece or a bad wire or something of that sort, would it be covered under warranty since the bass was never abused or even used in any way other than what it's meant for?

Thanks for all the help again

Peace n' love

Try gently touching the polepieces with a small unmagnetized ferrous piece of metal (one of your strings should suffice) and see if there is roughly equal magnetic attraction on all of them. This may give you a clue as to what may be wrong if a set of new strings doesn't help.

Good luck!
