Has anyone else noticed Paul's bass does not have the horseshoe pickup? He has the pickup cover off and it is a regular pickup. I just noticed this last night.

That's because by now it's been even further modified I think.

Have you seen recent photos? He swapped out the original horseshoe for a high gain in the 70's, but since has had a horseshoe put back in.

Not recent ones - nothing but that friggin' Hofner!! :D I'll see what I can find. After posting I did find an early Wings pic and the horseshoe was on the bass. It was a very slow night at work, late.

I got the c64s. The thing sounds amazing and feels great. I am enjoying the zero fret.

Someday I'll get a c64 too.

I had both, and I preferred the C64S.
The satin finish is nice and the neck fast, and thin.
The zero fret is a nice option too.

Is McCartney even playing his Rickenbacker anymore? I know he played a C64 on a track on Driving Rain, but I thought he had only been playing his Hofner since Flowers in the Dirt. I wish McCartney had played his 4001 during the Concert for George, especially on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," but I'm not that lucky.

The C64 would get my vote if I were able to get one. I like the stock look better than the shaved horn and zero fret. I got really excited when they were announced a few years ago, but can't justify the price since I have a 4001 and don't make any money off of guitars as it is. :)

UPDATE

I finally got the C64 FG and...

It is a great bass. The sound is great as it is the quality of the finish.

It is very easy to play since the action is extra low an the neck is thinner.

I thought that my 4003FLVP was my favorite bass, but now, I am not so sure anymore.

I am sure that the C64S is a great bass too, but I don't think that I am ever going to regret my decision.

Thanks for the input guys.
