Hi,

I am going to L.A. in a few days. I'd like to buy a rickenbacker bass there (I think that it is far cheaper than in Europe), but I don't know where in L.A. I can find good shops and good prices. Somebody could help me ?

Thanks,

Chris

Truetone music in Santa Monica seems to always have a nice selection of Rickenbackers but not sure how many basses they keep in stock. They're in Santa Monica. Bring plenty of quarters for parking. http://truetonemusic.com.

I haven't seen a new Rick bass in a So Cal music store since Mars Music went belly up.

Grayson's in Montrose almost always has a RIC bass in stock. Last time I was in the one on the wall was a 4003jg.

And you didn't see any Rickenbackers in Mars for a long time at the end either. We pulled the plug before we got hurt unlike some many of the other guys did, who kept shipping goods oblivious to a sinking ship. What were they thinking?

You might add Sam Ash to the list- they have a number of Los Angeles stores with goods in stock.

If you can make the drive down to Irvine (about 45 minutes on a good day, 2.5 hours on a bad one), check out Jim's Music center. They had a 12 string and a midnight blue 660.

I do see Rick guitars in stock at music stores like Jim's Music in Irvine. When I've asked why I never see any Rick basses in stores, I usually get told that they sell then as soon as they get them.

I think a few companies were yanking products out of Mars a while before they went under.
