I have recently ordered my first high end bass. Nothin else sounds as sweet as a ric. And I know they are hand made and I am in Canada but the delivery time was a full year. Is that a normal timeline?

No, that's rather fast. While certain "bread and butter" items can be had in as short as 9 months, the overall average delivery is closer to 18 months. If course, if your dealer already has had an order in for basses, they might be able to deliver much sooner.
