hi guys, i just purchased a hartke bass attack preamp/di foot pedal and i must say it really does sound good with a 4003, you can dial in the classic chris squire tone on roundabout or geddy lee,s tom sawyer sound for example. the unit is well made and very substantial, you also have 3 ways to power the unit battery/phantom power / wall wart. if you are thinking of buying one dont hesitate great range of tone and sound shaping, ideal for recording into the computer, i have been trying a few of these pedals out including the tech 21 vt pedal, i would say this pedal the hartke has more tonal range and is just as well made at a third of the cost of the vt pedal. cheers george
