Hi all, I have a 2011 4003 Mapleglo which has settled into the Australian climate nicely. However, there is a ski jump rise in the neck that really becomes obvious around 14th-15th fret. The truss rods adjustment is out of the range of this rise so apart from sanding down the whole fretboard is heat treating an option? I know heat treating a neck can have good results on other makes, but what about Ric's? Does anyone have any prior experience with whether the clearcoat, glue of the board and laminate neck can take this sort of reworking. Any information and help is very welcome. Regards |

Check your private messages... In summary: 1) Yes you can heat treat a Rick neck. 2) You need to be mindful that too much heat will liquify the glue and cause the filler strips to lift under the fingerboard. 3) Planing the fretboard is probably the better long term solution. 4) There is a fellow in Oz that can most likely help you--see my pm. |
