are pure nickel strings easier on frets than nickel plated? Not too many pure nickel strings available... most are nickel plated... I believe Ric strings are plated too.

Pure nickel, being a softer material, would be kinder to frets but certainly more expensive.

There are a few pure nickel sets available... do any conform with Ric specs for warranty?... that of course keeping the same gauge as the factory strings

I was thinking of using Fender 7150 pure nickels.. matching the gauge with the stock Ric strings.. i m hoping to avoid a lot of truss rod adjustment.) I would assume same gauge sized rounds would have similar tension.

There are many factors that go into how a string feels; same gauge does not guarantee same tension.

Lots of different brands are making "pure nickel wound" strings these days in most common guages (9-42; 10-46; 11-49; etc). jps is on the money re string tension. Core shape (round vs hex) and core thickness effect tension and feel along with the winding process. I use 10-46's in pure nickel on all my electrics; but prefer a "low tension" set on 25 1/2" scale guitars. Also, factors beyond string guage, effect string tension and feel like break angle over the bridge, nut height and distance between the bridge and tailpiece. One is not superior to the other, it's just a matter of personal preference.
