I'd like to put a toaster in the neck position of a 4003. The bass toasters are out of stock, though. So, any reason not to use a guitar toaster?

No problem, you will just have to use screws and nuts instead of the machine screws that would screw directly into the baseplate of the bass version of the toaster.
