I am curious about Mr. Halls comments concerning this capacitor.... Now are we refering to the "bypass" cap, which is technically the tone cap, OR are you refering to the "coupling" cap" , high pass filter, in series with the bridge pickup???

.0047 mFd coupling cap, not the .047 tone cap.

The easy, reversible way to bypass the cap is to tightly twist a short piece of insulated wire on to both leads of the cap using needle nose pliers. No soldering, & simple to remove should the mood strike you.

correct me if am wrong, but the new 4003 have the push/pull knob to by pass all of the stuff to get that old 4001 sound. Right?

Actually the 4003 never had the cap; the new switch adds the cap back in for those who want to "go retro", though the bridge pup is different.
