Sure looks like it - the wood isn't even RIC quality....

I saw that thing, too. It doesn't look too promising.

According to the serial number it is a legitimate ric manufactured in march 1976. What a pity, she must have suffered a lot......

death penalty to anyone mistreating rics? :-)

Did you see the price yet it's going for over $300.00 right now, the person bidding on it must be really stupid, they should save there money for a real nice Rickenbacker or even a nice vintage one, this bass hass been butchered.

I know that once somebody buys a bass, it's theirs and they are free to do anything they want with it... but why, oh why do people put P/J pickups in a Rickenbacker?!? Drives me ka-razy.

Drugs will do things to you and make you think "Hey that's a great idea!"

I would chock this one up to a nice piece of wood, perhaps playable, but certainly nothing to get excited about.

Doesn't even have the Rickenbacker flag on the headstock anymore.

What a shame.

Really is quite a shame. I agree with jjchampion's sentiments in being absolutely befuddled as to why people put P-bass pickups in RICK. If that's the sound you want... go get a P-bass.

However, for a second, when it had just started and was really cheap, a little voice in my head wanted me to get it and try to fix it.

I already have a difficult project though. Don't need another (more difficult) one.

And I don't care if the owner was there the night Sid Vicious or whoever died. They butchered a RIC!

Is it a Rick?? I don't see the "Standard" and "Rick-o-sound" at the jack plate, the keywinds are cheap ones, and the wood looks really bad :S

But there are 2 truss rods...

If it's real ... POOR BABY! looks so bad :(

Those keywinds look like Schallers to me... the same kind I'm using for my 4001 project...
