I had a question about Rick service...
Lets say I just purchased a 1974 4001 base from Ebay...and it is suppose to arrive sometime this week... I am new to Ricks, and don't know "diddley" ...... I live close to Santa Ana... Is it possible to make an appointment with the Rick service dept and show them the bass I just aquired and have them check it out and let me know how the condition is and recomend anything that may need to be done to get it up to speed or just a simple set-up with new strings???
Or is Rick very busy and backed up with orders that they really don't have the time to spare to do such a service???

Chris

I think your going to find that they handle warranty regarding actual owners of Rickenbacker instruments not 2nd or 3rd generation owners, also if I where you I'm pretty sure there are some great luither's and people that deal with Rickenbacker instruments as far as servicing them that write on this forum, I think one of them lives in Orange County, California.
I'm sure one of these people that write on here will be responding to you to give you suggestions, actually go to the restoration section of the forum and you will see which one of these people can help you, it might be a fee though but hey that would be wourth it to me if I was you.

You can try Steve Soest at 760 Main St. in Orange, CA. (714) 538-0272. Call to make an appointment. His shop is a few miles north of the RIC factory on the same (Main) street.
I'm pretty good at setting up Rick basses, but if you feel more comfortable with a pro who knows RIC intruments well, Steve is your guy.

Between here and San Diego is Scott Lentz out in San Marcos, who some folks highly recommend. I've heard he's a bit slow sometimes but the examples of his work that I've seen have been excellent.

Check www.lentzguitar.com for info.

Indeed, Steve Soest is also a very good luthier and well qualified.

To answer your question, we are not open to the public and only do warranty repair work.
