Is there already some recent news about this? I really would like to try a horseshoe on my 4003.

John, Kenny, or Richard can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think when the first C series basses begin to fall out of the warranty period, we will begin selling these. I'm not sure if any limitations will be placed on who can order these (I.E. proving you have a C series bass).

I think many 4003 and 4001 players would go for the vintage pickup option on their basses ... if they could get it ...

I don't know if many would go for it. Probably some, but not many.

Not me, If I had wanted the horseshoe pu, I would have ordered a c64 bass. Im happy with the pu that comes with the 4003.

I agree the pickups on the 4003 models are KILLER, I do have a 4003FL Blue Boy w/ vintage pickup & 4003 Blue Boy w/ vintage pickup also coming in, I have no idea what this pickups sound like but these where last of the Blue Boys so I wanted to jump on it. FISH

Check some of the other Ric message boards, and also, the prices people are getting for horseshoe re-issues and you'll see that a LOT of us are foaming at the mouth for these things! It's very frustrating that you'd have to buy an entire bass to get vintage pups. No disrespect to JH & Co., just HURRY UP PLEASE! Kidding (not really). A lot of people love the standard high gains, but the problem I have with them is, with the way I play, I end up getting nasty "click clack" noises when I lay into it. I don't have this problem with toasters, horseshoes, or HB1s. I can beat on those all I want without the "pop".

I like the idea of a horseshoe, but for the bridge pickup, I'll stick with a hi-gain, because it has more output.
