YES, I'm moving to the DARK SIDE....... Seeing as the stock pots on the 4004 are 330K, there shouldn't be too much of a difference going to 250k Stacked Pots for Volume & Tone with a Push/Pull Coil Splitting Switch on each p/u to switch from a Humbucker with the coils in SERIES to a SINGLE COIL and change the cap value to 1.0mf. for even a FATTER TONE when the tone pot is in the full counterclockwise position.
Good Morning Rick 5 In your picture http://www.3dentourage.com/425/93-4004L-5-2.htm, What type/brand of pre amp are you using and is it 9 volt or 18 volt ? I'm considering changing to an ACTIVE circuit but also looking into an outboard pre amp.

The 4004 basses came with 250k ohm pots until about 2006 ... now they use 330k ohm pots. I suggest wiring them with 500k ohm pots. Unless you want to put in 2 toaster pickups and then the 250 or 330 will be great.
