I am considering installing a horseshoe pickup in my newer 4003s. I was wondering if the screw holes that screw the chrome plate into the body of the RIC horseshoe is in the same location as factory installed chrome mount for the high gain or if additional holes need to be drilled. Thank you.

Unless things have changed recently, the answer is, "NO." Unless you mount it backwards. I think they line up when the narrow end is towards the fretboard instead of the bridge.

Of course, you don't have to use the chrome trim plate that comes with them. The original one will work just fine...

Horseshoe pickups look, and work, just fine in the 4003's existing surround. 8-)
