I just purchased a used 4003 bass, can someone share a basic explanation of how the four control knobs control each pickup, in all three toggle switch settings. I understand up is the bridge PU, middle is both and down is the bridge PU.
Thanks,

That subject should be covered in the Owners Manual. Other than the pull-up knob for vintage tone, each one is labeled for its particular function.

You may have replacement "vintage" knobs that don't have labels. The knobs closest to the strings control tone; the one closer to the neck controls the bass pickup tone, the other the treble pickup tone. The knobs closest to the edge of the body are volume knobs, bass close to the neck, treble closer to the bridge. Hope this helps!
