I am new to the forum and have had a 4003 for nearly a week which I am very happy with. I have just one query regarding the pickups as I know it is normal for the bridge pickup to have more output than the neck, so if I raised the neck pickup to maximum and lowered the bridge pickup would I lose tone overall?

Thanks!

Well, that's a very personal thing - tone. Lots of things contribute to tone; why not try some different height settings and determine what works for you, personally.

Pretty sure my neck pup is at max, pickguard cracking, rubber ring squashing, height.
Bridge pup is higher on bass end than treble end to get equal volume across all strings with that pup on. No bezel. HB1 pups in my 4003.
Do it by ear.

Well I decided to lower the bridge pup to get equal volume on both neck and bridge pups.I guess I could have left it as it was originally set up and just turned down the bridge volume. I like to dig in with both pic and fingers and having the strings further away from the bridge pup eliminates that annoying sound when you hit the pole pieces.
