Looking for opinions on this.
There's a 4003 for saleon Ebay with the 'Made in the USA' text of the truss rod cover printed upside down. Apart from that it seems genuine.
Is it possible that this factory error escaped the rigorous Ric quality control?
Thanks Alansan

It's gotta be from a lefty bass. If it came that way from the Factory it's a mistake which could actually make it more valuable. Could be that it was being worked on at the same time as a lefty bass & they got mixed up.

No, I've seen the photos, and the "Made in USA" line is indeed upside down. Its perpendicular to "Rickenbacker" and parallel with the nut, but it reads correctly if you look at the bass from the headstock end. It is a bit unusual, and probably an early piece that was rejected (but somehow got out of the factory). It wouldn't make any difference if it went on a righty or lefty bass.

I saw that one. It looks like an all black 4001 C64 but without the reverse headstock. Normal bass without sharks tooth, with vintage pickups.
