Besides my Rick basses, I have:
2 StingRay5s
Fender Precision (MIM)
Ibanez BTB QM405
Tune Bassmaniac5
Gibson Victory Artist Fretless that I've modded into a 5 string
Carlo Robelli 12 string bass
Kramer Ferrington acoustic bass

...none of them come close to being as good as my Rick basses!

I have a bright blue B.C. Rich Warlock, which is kind of funny since I don't play metal. Haha.
I'd like to get a Steinberger someday in addition to a new Ric.

charizm ... what do you think of the line 6 bass?

It feels a bit plywood-y and it is heavy, but the neck plays well (a bit more P-bass than J-bass) and the sounds available are well worth the investment.

I have used the Variax bass on some demos and I dare anyone who didn't know it was a Varaix to nail it as such.

Interesting... after looking through most of the posts, it seems the majority of basses owned by respondents are vintage or traditional.

I must be on the edges of the curve! I love technology and fresh ideas, but I also repect what works. That's why you'll find I have owned (and so want another) Ricks and a Jazz Bass, but also have had a Steinberger type (no headstock, minimal body), a two-active-EMGs bass (Larrivee) and the Variax bass.

I'm of the whatever works school.

And please don't take this as a "vintage head" bash. If people want their Hofner Beatles basses and such, right on!

Hey Joey! I actually pick it up from Vinny on Friday – can’t wait!

I owe you an e-mail – sorry it’s just been super crazy!

Wow, I wish I had the resources to obtain some of the collections I've read about here! Most impressive.
My only bass other than my '73 4001 mapleglo is an SX 5 string fretless J-bass copy I picked up on e-bay for $150 in Feb. 2005. I got this mostly to more accurately replicate Pink
Floyd stuff and to further explore the world of 5-string fretless playing. Although it was intended to mostly be a "toy", rather than a serious bass, I have actually been pleasantly surprised by the quality of this instrument. It still ain't a Ric, but I was never under the illusion that it would be, and the 4001 remains my main axe.
