Why Rickenbacker don't use graphite in your necks?
It's someone else's patent and the first major maker to use it without a license will likely be sued. We have a better idea for the future anyway.

John, who has a patent on graphite reinforcement? Just off the top of my head, I can name Smith, Carvin, Lakland, Novax, Hamer, ESP/LTD, Schecter, Veillette, Fender, and Turner, as pretty major makers who use graphite in their necks. I think Ken Smith has been doing it since about 1980... They couldn't possibly enforce such a patent, unless it pertained to some particular way of doing it... and there are a few makers with very specific things, such as Gander guitars neck beam... but a patent on putting graphite rods in a neck? I can't seem to find it.

Now that doesn't mean that graphite is for everyone... it does change the tone somewhat (tends to raise the resonant frequency of the neck)...
