I was beginning to think my Ric bass was going to become a beautiful wall hanger. I just couldn't get anything out of the e string without going to what I consider extremely fat strings (I usually use a 95 on the e). On the advice of a friend, I tried Thomastic Infelds (105) on the e. Not only is the volume perfectly even, there are absolutely no unwanted overtones. You can't hear any thing but the fundamental of the note you are playing. I guess with the years of manufacturing orchestral strings they must have some techniques that the others haven’t figured out yet. I highly recommend that you try these strings.

You can have the nut slots cut to fit your choice of strings, you know?
