Can anyone give me the official colors for a 74 480? I have been told it was Burgungy Glow, and it is definatley dark red, no shading. Thanks to all!

In 1974, Burgundy (BG) was a color choice for a 480.

Other color choices were Mapleglo, Fireglo, Jetglo, Azureglo, White, and Walnut. If yours is a dark, semi-transparent red (you should be able to see some grain through the finish), is is almost certainly Burgundy.

Pictures would help ID it for sure...

Thanks to all for the quick answers. It is defintly BG, deep but grainy, less grainy than my Les Paul quilt top. You would think that owning it from day one, I would remember that! Never mind, I slept since then.

Was White an official color choice? I've seen a couple White 480's but always assumed it was a custom job considering they're even more scarce than AzureGlo or Walnut 480's.

According to the Rittor book, white was a color choice in 1957 and then again from 1970 until 1999...

As I recall, Rickenbacker offered Standard Colors (including Burgundy) and Custom Colors which included White (WHT). There was an additional charge for a finish in a "Custom Color."
