What were the correct tuners for the 1973 4001 basses? Grovers? If so, does anyone know where I could get originals and how much should I expect to pay?

This sounds trite, but it is the truth: the quest for wavy Grover bass tuners is not too much different than the search for the Holy Grail. They show up occasionally on eBay for a King's ransom. Good luck.

Around USD250, which is huge considering the price of standard bass tuners.
