Hi,

I've been keeping an eye out for an original truss rod cover for my late '65 330 / 12 and have come across one from an early '65 425 / 12. To my eye, they don't appear to be the same. It seems the 425 is cut different on the top, with a more pronounced notch to it. For reference, the shape of the 425 TRC that I'm talking about is pretty close to what was on George Harrison's '63 360. I checked out some photos of other 425 and 450 models from '65 and the TRCs on those don't have this pronounced notch.

Did Rickenbacker change the shape sometime in 1965? I'm tempted to buy this one because the clearance for the strings would be better with this shape, but I don't want to shell out big bucks for something that's not technically correct for my guitar. (Yes, I realize this is a bit picky, but I want to be faithful in bringing this instrument back to factory spec.)

Thanks.

These were hand cut, you will see lots of variations in the shapes of those '60s 12 stringer TRCs.
