I was about to polish up my 1988-ish JetGlo 330 for the first time in quite a while when I noticed that somewhere along the way, the guitar must have been sitting on top of some photocopied guitar tab templates and had the lines transfer onto the guitar.

Fortunately, it's black on black, and only on the back (there's a song waiting to be written), but I'd still like to get rid of them, if possible. The only thing I've really tried so far is window cleaner, with no apparent improvement. I was hoping to get some input before I went any further.

I don't know if the toner has adhered to the finish or if it has eaten into the finish. I tried to take a pencil rubbing onto tissue paper, but it didn't work very well. I think I could make the argument the the lines are raised, but it's not a very strong argument.

Wikipedia implies that common toner formulations include styrene acrylate copolymer, polyester resin, and styrene butadiene copolymer, if that helps anyone with some materials engineering knowledge.

Well, for what it's worth, some NuFinish Scratch Doctor and a good amount of elbow grease seems to be doing a good job of getting rid of those toner transfers.
