CMUK, you're at .500. Nice try!

Thornton, about $1300.00. YMMV.

Ah ha!

My second guess for the headstocks (L-R): 1997, 362 6/12, and your recent 4001->4003 restoration.

The finished product is stunning, especially with that awesome-looking checkered binding. Great job Jingle_Jangle!

Just like to say that this is my bass that Paul restored for me. I couldn't be happier. It's exactly as I'd wanted it, like a 72 FG 4001, with horeshoe and toaster pickups.

He's right to say that the poor old '79 was battered. I picked it up really cheaply here in SF. It had seen life for sure, but it played great, and despite the fact that it looked like someone had been using it for gardening, the neck was straight and in good shape. I played it regularly whilst I was getting the parts for it. I would like to point out at this juncture, that it wasn't me that did that to that poor bass.

The checkerboard binding is of German origin and was obtained privately through a forum member, as was the custom wound toaster pickup. The tuners are new Rickenbacker from Ed Roman guitars. Internals are all stock 4001.

It looks fantastic, and Paul's attention to detail is the best I've seen in almost 30 years of Rick ownership. The playabilty is right on, and I'll just have to fine adjust the pickups to try to get the horseshoe a little more prominent in the mix, as it's quite a bit quieter than the toaster.

All in all, perfect ! Thanks Paul !
