Hi, can anyone recommend someone to re-finish (if thats the right phrase) a Ric I've just aquired.

It needs to be in the UK, I'm after changing it from a Maple Glo (worn in places) and changing her to either Jet Glo or Azure, I haven't decided yet.

Rough idea of cost as well as I don't want to spend alot doing it.

Thanks in advance 8-)

Well, if you want a GOOD refinish job, it's going to cost money. A professional job, done to RIC standards here in the U.S. runs in the $1500 to $2000 range.

Whoaaa.........I had no idea it was in that range I thought around £200 - £500, mind you that's based on no experience whatsoever so that'll teach me!

Thanks for the reply.

Well, you can probably get a refinish job done for a lot less, it just won't be to the standards of what comes from the factory. The big expense is in all of the hand labor in removing the old finish (without destroying the guitar), the many coats of sealer, color and clear coat, then all of the sanding and buffing to get that glass-like, ultra smooth finish.

Note, I'm not one who does this sort of work, so I'm in no way giving a quote or any such thing. Just going off some mentions I've heard from those who are in that line of work. Bottom line is that the actual cost will depend on how much work has to be done...
