in the treble pickup diagram,

http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdfs/bpickups.pdf

there are two slightly cone-shaped rubber grommets at the base of the pickup, on either side of the pickup (part 03604). They don't appear to be available separately from the pickup. There's a washer on top of each of them, then the pickup cover, then the spring.

My bass used to have these grommets but they got lost during a dark period when I swapped out the stock pickup for a Seymour Duncan (the stock pickup is now back in there). Any way to get them? I need them so I can reinstall the pickup cover. If they can't be had as OEM replacement, can someone provide me their height dimension, so I can cut some rubber or plastic tubing as a substitute?

They're actually a nylon or delrin like plastic, rather than rubber.
Any sort of plastic tubing of the proper size would work as well. They're sort of a bushing/spacer. You could also use a longer spring instead.

Thanks. How tall are the original ones? I have some plastic tubing that would work fine as replacements.

I think they're about 3/8". Anywhere around that should work well, since there's lots of play in the length of the spring.
I've actually had mine without them for quite a while at times & I couldn't make out any difference since I like the pickup as close as I can get it without having the strings clacking into the poles when I play hard.

The thing is, I'm contemplating putting a pickup cover back on after years of having it off. That requires the grommets (or some substitute) to lift it above the strings.
