This Ebay listing has nothing to do with Rickenbacker, but when I stumbled on it, I was baffled and thought I would share it.

Here's the listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Seymour-Duncan-Pear ... dZViewItem

If you are to trust the picture and header, you are bidding on a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pickup, but when you read through the listing it all becomes very muddy. You could possibly be led to think that you are bidding on a new Epiphone Junior guitar with Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck Humbucker pickup installed...or, reading still further, you may think your bid is for a cheap on/off switch.

I thought that the whole listing is pretty funny, yet frightening in a way. At the time of THIS post, someone had actually placed a bid on this ambiguous mess.

If you click on "View seller's other items", you'll see that he made a mistake when he created that auction. He also has another auction for the Epi Jr. that is accurate to the description. He's probably new at the "seller thing" and needs to cancel that auction and re-list the pickup. You can tell when someone made a goof or is deliberately running a scam. -Dr.Phil

Mostly I found the listing humorous and simply was pointing out the old addage "buyer beware." I really didn't suspect it was a scam, simply confusing.

Admittedly I didn't check his other items, but I would think that after 118 sales/buys (at this moment) he/she would be a bit more savvy.

I agree that it was a pretty boneheaded thing to do! -Dr.Phil
