I have a 1966 Hofner 500/1 which I play in certain songs, and which will never sound like a Rickenbacker bass, but then, I am not a full time bass player.

The first time I heard a Rickenbacker bass was with the group "YES". I could not believe the bass sound.

A Fender bass never sounded like that.
McCartney's Rickenbacker never sounded like that.
What the h*** was this guy doing?

"YES" broke many sound barriers.

Ricmic,

of all the electric basses I've ever heard since the early 1960's, the Rickenbacker is the most awesome bass ever made.
